Thameslink Arches

The new London Bridge substation on the Thameslink Project is located in four substantial archways beneath the viaduct, on which the tracks are located adjacent to the station.

The substation site consists of two 30m long parallel through-archways to house the AC & DC switchgear and two 10m long arches to house the rectifiers.

Vandal-proof galvanized steel cable containment carry the HV cables from the substation level up to the existing track level.

Global-Rail-11An arching structural galvanized steel framework was installed within the existing arches to provide flexible mounting points for supporting the lighting and cabling as well as achieving a dry environment for the new equipment.
